The New Zealand Certificate in Tourism (Level 4) will provide you with the required skills and knowledge to assist tourists in experiencing New Zealand’s diverse tourism regions, attractions and activities. Graduates will gain theoretical and practical knowledge relevant to this fast evolving industry. This is a great next step if you have completed the New Zealand Certificate in Tourism (Level 3).
This programme also includes the Operations and Visitor Information endorsements.
Destinations New Zealand
This section focuses on the importance of understanding the characteristics, history and attributes of New Zealand destinations. You will develop in-depth knowledge of New Zealand as a destination and a thorough awareness of what products and services are available.
You will gain customer service skills to enhance the visitor experience. You will learn how to use problem solving and communication skills to provide travel and tourism advice to customers. You will further develop your research skills and use your knowledge of New Zealand destinations to develop and market group tours. Learn how to enhance the visitor experience through demonstrating manaakitanga concepts to deliver sound customer service to clients.
The module focuses on the business side of the tourism industry, through understanding the impacts of tourism on New Zealand, the principles and practice of ecological tourism management and the health and safety requirements of a tourism business. You will also learn the skills to develop and deliver a proposal to form collaborative arrangements with other business operators to enhance a visitor’s experience.

Graduates will be able to work in a wide variety of positions in the tourism industry, including iSite visitor information centres, attractions and activity operators, hotel and accommodation providers and travel and transport operations.
