National Certificate in Pharmacy Assistant (Level 3)

The National Certificate for Pharmacy Assistants is designed as a point of entry for those wanting to begin a career in the exciting area of pharmacy sales and service. This programme will introduce you to a wide variety of products and services and give you the selling and customer service skills you need to make you a valuable staff member from day one.

Certification: Students who successfully complete the prescribed programme requirements will receive the National Certificate in Pharmacy Assistant – Level 3.

Entry criteria: Open entry. Applicants should have completed year 12 (6th form) as a guideline

For applicants whose first language is not English please use IELTS 5.5 as the guideline for the level of English proficiency required.

Duration: 36 weeks, full-time

Fees: Domestic: $4655.00 tuition fee plus $150.00 course related costs
International: $15,000.00NZD tuition fee plus $150.00 course related costs

This course is offered twice a year, in February and July* at the Christchurch and North Shore campuses of the Academy.

Certificate in Pharmacy Technician (Level 5)

The National Certificate in Pharmacy Technician (Level 5) is the recognized NZQA qualification required by those wishing to work as a pharmacy dispensary technician. This course introduces students to the full range of technical skills and pharmaceutical knowledge required to practice as a Pharmacy Technician. It is ideally suited to year 12-13 school leavers, pharmacy assistants, health workers and mature students wishing to up-skill.

Certification: Students who successfully complete the prescribed programme requirements will receive the National Certificate in Pharmacy (Technician) Level 5 – Community Strand.


Duration:

2 academic years.
Year 1, 36 weeks, you will complete the National Certificate in Pharmacy Assistant (Level 3) see above.

Year 2, 36 weeks


Entry criteria: Applicants should have appropriate year 12-13 academic achievement, hold a National Certificate in Pharmacy (Assistant – Level 3), hold a complementary tertiary qualification or be able to demonstrate equivalent skills and knowledge.

For applicants whose first language is not English please use IELTS 6 (14 credits in English and Maths at NCEA Level 2) as the guideline for the level of English proficiency required.

Fees:

Year 1, Domestic student: $4655.00 tuition fees plus $260 course related costs, International student: $15,000.00NZD tuition fees plus $150NZD course related costs.

 Year 2, Domestic student: $5400.00 tuition fees plus $150 course related costs, International student: $17,500.00NZD tuition fees plus $260NZD course related costs.
