New Zealand Certificate in Assessment Practice

Level 4 (40 credits)

Our Level 4 programme covers the main aspects of assessment practice for tutors and includes achieving US 4098 and 11281. You’ll attend three face to face workshops, carry out two practicums and complete assignments.

When you graduate you will be able to:

  • apply assessment principles and processes to make sound assessment judgements on assessment of learner evidence
  • manage pre- and post-assessment processes in accordance with recognised good practice
  • act professionally, ethically, and with cultural sensitivity as an assessor
  • communicate with a diverse range of people including providing effective feedback to learners and providing feedback on assessment design and process
  • participate in the quality assurance of assessment-related activities to comply with organisational requirements

  • Employed as a tutor/assessor in a TEO, ITO or similar
  • International students must have an IELTS Academic score of 5.5 or NZQA approved equivalent

New Zealand Certificate in Adult and Tertiary Teaching

Level 5 (60 Credits)

Our Level 5 programme covers the teaching process across Design, Deliver, Assess and Evaluate and includes US 11552. You’ll attend four face to face workshops, carry out four practicums and complete assignments.

When you graduate you will be able to:

  • design for learning to meet specified learning outcomes in a variety of contexts
  • create and sustain a learner-centred teaching environment that respects learners’ mana and diverse backgrounds, and the wider educational and societal context
  • select and apply facilitation and teaching strategies appropriate to diverse learners
  • enhance learning through the application of assessment and moderation practices
  • critically evaluate and reflect on own professional practice and explore options to improve it

  • Have completed a L4 teacher education qualification or equivalent experience
  • Currently in a role that includes teaching in a tertiary organisation. And for International students additionally 5.5 Academic IELTS or NZQA approved equivalent

Both programmes will include guided support, mentoring and peer support across all aspects of learning.
